A WORLD OF HURT

When I started out in pharmacy, I don't want to say how many years ago, only a small percent of the prescription sales were for pain medication. Now, I would guess analgesics, anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxants and nerve pain medications, probably make up at least 1/4 to 1/3 of prescription sales. Pain is caused by inflammation. Why, then, are we so inflamed today? I want to explore over the next few weeks some of the causes of inflammation.

1. Inflammatory Diet

2. Leaky Gut

3. Environmental Toxins and Detoxification Problems

4. Stress

5. Lack of Sleep

6. Lack of Motion-Exercise

7. Dehydration

Taking pain medication may help you mask the pain, but does nothing to address the cause and can even make things worse. They also have side effects and can be addictive. You can take control of your pain by taking control of your health. It is a journey that will not only reduce your pain, but will improve your health and your life.
